As part of the further upgrade of the regional airports, Fraport Greece, the operator of the 14 regional airports in Greece, will proceed with further construction works at some of the network’s airports.

The suspension dates of runway operations, per airport, are presented in detail below:

Airport: Corfu (CFU)
Runway Operations’ Suspension Dates: January 20, 2027 – January 28, 2027

Airport: Mitiline (MJT)
Runway Operations’ Suspension Dates: For 24hrs every Tuesday, 00:01 - 23:59* (Period: November 17, 2026 – March 23, 2027)**

Airport: Mykonos (JMK)
Runway Operations’ Suspension Dates: For 24hrs every Thursday 00:01 – 23:59* (Period: November 19, 2026 – March 18, 2027)**

** The 23rd, 24th and 31st of December 2026, as well as the 6th and 7th of January 2027 are exempted.

It should be noted that during the periods mentioned above, helicopters will carry out emergency flights (e.g. ambulance helicopters for patients’ airlifts, search and rescue, fire-fighting, humanitarian, government and other national flights) if required, while all other airport services within the terminals, will be available to the interested public.

The above works concern the complete reconstruction of the runways at the airports, aiming to further enhance the already high level of safety and include, among others, extensive interventions to reconfigure the Runway Strips and the Runway Safety Areas (RESA).

These works form part of the Concession Agreement. They are carried out under sustainable conditions and with respect for the land, as supporting sustainable development and social responsibility are Fraport Greece’s highest priorities.

The runways’ suspension of operation is necessary due to the size and complexity of the project. Nevertheless, according to the planning, the specified intervals are the shortest possible period during which the runways can be suspended.

Regulatory compliance and safety, at all levels, are key priorities for the company. These works are part of a broader plan to further upgrade the already high level of safety and operations at the 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece.

In this context, Fraport Greece urges the travelling public to take the scheduled suspension periods into account when planning their upcoming journeys.
